What a wee gem of a cognac. Believed to be from around the 1940s, this Cognac bears the advertising slogan of "Camus and soda", from a time when cognac producers were trying to procure whisky drinkers away by suggesting drinking Cognac long with soda!
Still a family owned Camus sold mainly to the Tzars of Russia until the revolution. They managed to avoid bankruptcy in the 1960s by striking a deal with American traders under the name of "Duty Free Shoppers", a relationship which is as strong today as it was back in the 1960s.
