Independently produced until 1970 when it was sold to what became Allied Distillers and for the first time in its history, Balblair was not owned by local businessmen. In 1996, Balblair was purchased by Inver House Distillers. This Balblair from the House of Ballantine's is therefore extremely rare and collectible.
A rare young Balblair bottled in the 1980s in a flat bottle with a label emphasising the distillery's (then) connections with Ballantine's blend.
