Karuizawa distillery officially closed its doors in 2011, although it hadn't been producing whisky since 2000. Since then all the stocks have been bought by Number One Drinks Company who release them every so often.

As Number One Drinks Company often bottle the whisky with labels that feature images from Japan's rich cultural heritage. This label features the infamous ''Suji Bachi Kabuto'' which is the helmet used by the Samurai during feudal era of Japan. This helmet might be the most symbolic piece of equipment used by the Samurai, aside from the Katana.
