This is an interesting vatting of two whiskies. One was produced at the Hanyu distillery, prior to its dismantling in 2004. Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the distillery's founder, salvaged some casks and, after setting up the Chichibu distillery in 2008, blended the old and new whiskies together to create this little number.

Ichiro’s Malt is a vatting of Hanyu and Chichibu single malts. Pure Malt matured in Japanese Oak, vatted and bottled at Chichibu distillery.
The range is named after Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of the creator of Hanyu distillery. Although the distillery was dismantled in 2004, Ichiro saved the remaining 400 casks. This is the product of one of those. This bottle has been finished in Mizunara Wood casks, more commonly known over here as Japanese Oak.
