Whisky Book - The Whisky Distilleries Of The United Kingdom By A Barnard 1969

Originally published in 1887, Alfred Barnard was the secretary of Harper's Weekly Gazette and during the years 1885-1887 hetoured Scotland, Ireland and England and visited 162 distilleries, 129 in Scotland, 29 in Ireland and 4 in England.

The result was a 500 page book that paints a fantastic picture of the state of distilling in the 1880s.

Thought by many to be the most important book ever published on the subject of whisky this book delivers technical detail alongside a more personal subjective views of each of the distilleries he visits.
