Lot number: 064-4181

Winning bid: £85

Sold in America during prohibition for medical purposes, due to the Surgeon General refusing to believe it could be drunk for pleasure, Laphroaig has been awarded a Royal Warrant by Prince Charles in 1994. The biggest selling single malt from Islay, Laphroaig is one of the last distilleries using its own floor maltings.

This 2011 bottling of Cairdeas - which means "friendship" in Gaelic, was created to celebrate Friends worldwide and the traditional art of cask selection. This edition has been crafted by the first Islay-born Laphroaig Master Distiller, John Campbell, and is so named Ileach, or "native of Islay" in Gaelic.
