The oldest distillery on Islay, Bowmore has been described as the Grande Dame of the island. It still has its own floor maltings which make up about 30% of its requirements. Its No. 1 vaults are the oldest maturation warehouse in Scotland and the only one below sea level.
To be able to get your hands on the limited release of the "expensive" Bowmore Feis Ile 2013, a golden ticket was needed (Released on the open day). Some hardy souls queued, some all night, and, as usual, the Bowmore team brought out shortbread, drams, and the GOLDEN TICKET.
