The oldest distillery on Islay, Bowmore has been described as the Grande Dame of the island. It still has its own floor maltings which make up about 30% of its requirements. Its No. 1 vaults are the oldest maturation warehouse in Scotland and the only one below sea level.
Bowmore released three bottlings for 2015 Feis Ile. The virgin oak(This one), the hand filled and the super fancy 1988 vintage. From previous years Bowmore had totally revamped their release schedule. 700 for the week and 300 for the opening day. They thought that the bottles would lasts at least until Tuesday. Well they missed it with 2 and a half days since the 700 sold out mid day on the same day as they were first released.
