Lot number: 066-1216

Winning bid: £30

The history of Glen Scotia is one of fits and starts and many different owners over the years. Founded in 1823 and one of the last remaining distilleries from Campbeltown's glory years as the "Whisky Capital of the World", the distillery is still using fermenters, the stillroom and the dunnage warehouse dating from the 1830's. It also takes probably the smallest cut of all distilleries in Scotland, collecting the spirit from just 71%-68%.

Margaret Lombard-Chibnall, current CEO, founded Lombard Scotch Whisky in the mid 1960's. Entering the market as a supplier of bulk whisky to blenders, Margaret invested in whiskies of the highest standard. Select distilleries were commissioned to produce ‘new fill’ and from date of distillation, Lombard took full control over the maturation of its stocks. Today Lombard holds, matures and bottles from its own whiskies. Bottling and blending is within the central region of Scotland.
