Lot number: 066-2183

Winning bid: £340

Built in 1972 to produce single malt whisky for blends such as J&B, Auchroisk was the first single malt to be bottled under 'The Singleton' banner.

The maturation process involved the 10-year-old Bourbon matured whisky being moved into Sherry casks for two years, making it among the first examples of finishing.

This whisky has been bottled by the oldest independent bottler in Scotland, which has long championed the absence of colouring and chill filtering.

The dumpy range of bottlings in its distinctive black labels is particularly sought after.

Distilled: June 1978

Bottled: October 1990

Age: 12 years

59.3% ABV / 75cl
