The Rare Malts are a series of Diageo cask-strength releases, designed to show off some of the lesser known whiskies in its empire. Now discontinued they are much sought after by collectors. All bottlings are cask strength, and un-chill filtered.
Linkwood has been operating for nearly 200 years and enjoys a very high reputation amongst blenders for its light fragrant style that is twinned with a thick texture in the mouth.
This is achieved with long fermentations, 75 hours, and slow distillation in spirit stills that are larger than the wash stills so they can maximise the contact with the copper.
Distilled: 1975
Bottled: May 2002
