Lot number: 069-3290
Winning bid: £4,500
The Practical Distiller is one of the earliest known books on whisky distillation. It offers a wonderful look into the craft of distilling before it had even become a shadow of the commercial industry it is now.
A first edition dating to 1718, of which there are only 8 recorded others, one at Oxford University's Bodleian Library and the other at Harvard University. The work has been later bound with a subsequent work, A Compleat Body of Distilling, by George Smith, dating to 1725.
Please examine all images of the lot, any packaging and labels carefully and satisfy yourself as to their condition before making a bid.
