In 1869 the Ripy brothers opened their distillery on Wild Turkey Hill in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Wild Turkey Bourbon got its name in 1940 when distillery executive Thomas McCarthy took samples of the bourbon on a wild turkey hunting trip.
This venerable old Turkey was bottled as a tribute to master distiller, Jimmy Russell on his 50th anniversary with the company.
