The Bordeaux wine region in France is home to some of the most famous appellations in the country - St Emilion, Pauillac, Pomerol and Sauternes to name a few. Within these geographical designations lie some of the most famous and revered wineries in the world.
This Pauillac, from the left bank of the River Gironde, comes from the estate originally owned by Jean-Francois de Pontet, Grand Ecuyer to Louis XV who began producing wines that, a century later, would be worthy of becoming a member of the famous 1855 classification.
