Glen Scotia 8 Year Old Pure Malt Old Style 75cl
Lot number: 076-0716
Winning bid: £160
The history of Glen Scotia is one of fits and starts and many different owners over the years. Founded in 1823 and one of the last remaining distilleries from Campbeltown's glory years as the "Whisky Capital of the World", the distillery is still using fermenters, the stillroom and the dunnage warehouse dating from the 1830s. It also takes probably the smallest cut of all distilleries in Scotland, collecting the spirit from just 71%-68%.
This rather awesome example was bottled while the distillery was under the stewardship of A. Gilles & Co, and we estimate it was bottled at some point during the 1960s.
Age: 8 years old
