Winning bid: £100
The whisky distilled at the Glengyle distillery is bottled under the name Kilkerran as Loch Lomond distillers own the rights to the "Glengyle" name for their vatted malt. The distillery was originally founded in 1872 by William Mitchell but closed in the 1920s. 79 years later one of his ancestors, Hedley Wright bought the distillery installed Ben Wyvis's old stills. The spirit that has been produced has been subject to much experimentation, peating levels, cask types and even quadruple distillation being utilised.
Every year since 2009 there has been a release of a limited amount of Kilkerran single malt. The plan is to continue with the Work In Progress until 2016 when the whisky turns 12 years old.
