Opened in 1869, it is one of the original Classic Malts and is the signature malt influence in the Old Parr blend.

Benromach Peat Smoke

Gordon & MacPhail have experienced such success with Benromach since they took over the practically derelict distillery in 1993, that in 2016 nine new washbacks were installed, increasing the potential capacity of the distillery to seven hundred thousand litres per annum. While this might sound like small potatoes compared to some of the Speyside titans, it shows remarkable confidence in the rejuvenated brand, since it's reintroduction to the market in 2004.

With an interesting signature style that emulates the lightly peated Speysiders of the 1950s and 60s, combined with quality cask management and focus on single malt production, Benromach's future is looking a lot more stable than its somewhat choppy past.

Caol Ila 12 year old

The largest distillery on Islay, Caol Ila sits on the Sound of Islay overlooking the picturesque island of Jura. Most of Caol Ila ends up in blends, but it also produces a wide variety of peated and un-peated single malt expressions.

A relaunched Singleton, this time from Dufftown, to replace the now-defunct Singleton of Auchroisk. This smooth, mellow dram is designed to attract new drinkers to the malt category.
