Lot number: 082-4147

Winning bid: £2,700

SStill in family hands since it was founded, the Glenfarclas Distillery is one of Speyside's independent whisky producers. The Grant family has been running Glenfarclas since 1860, producing an individual Speyside malt that many whisky enthusiasts number as one of their favourites.

The water source is melt water from the slopes of Ben Rinnes which runs through granite and heather before reaching Glenfarclas (meaning 'the valley of green grass'). With a long history stretching back to the early 20th Century, both original and independent bottlings are keenly collected

A phenomenal bottling of Glenfarclas at cask strength, it's hard to believe the skill involved in ageing whisky for 40 years and it retaining such a high alcohol level. Released to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 105 cask strength range, this is the result of a couple of very special casks being vatted together.

60% ABV / 70cl
