This is the first single pot still Irish Whiskey to be finished in Bordeaux wine casks. And not just any old Bordeaux casks, let us tell you! There is a very special shared bond between Ireland and France here. The winery where the casks come from is Château Léoville Barton, a relation of the Irish wine geese winemaker, Thomas Barton. Thomas' relations still run the Chateau to this day, making this is a wonderful celebration of the international shared heritage between the countries.
The whiskey is matured in Oloroso sherry, Bourbon barrels and fresh American oak casks, before being transferred into the Bordeaux wine casks for further ageing.
