Lot number: 085-1697

Winning bid: £310

The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow 'cut' of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world.

This is a new interpretation of Rare Cask Black, reimagined through the eyes of a master of visual ambiguity, Steven Klein, this uncharacteristic Macallan is surrounded by a distinctive display of striking imagery.

Unlike any other Macallan today, Rare Cask Black has a surprisingly yet subtle distinctive smoky flavour which still gives you the full bodied richness of the spirit’s DNA from 100% sherry seasoned European and American oak casks, of which most are first fill.

Cask Type: First Fill Sherry

48% ABV / 70cl
