Reunion Rum is now regarded as a stylish and sophisticated drink. A concentration movement has taken place over the years, in 1928 there was 31 Rum distilleries under the Reunion Rum Umbrella in 1928 and now only 3 left today, however capacity has never been so high. This position has been achieved through Reunion Rum negotiating a joint policy of GIE (Economic Interest Grouping) in 1972 with the view of developing a structured Charette brand, a blend of traditional style Reunion Rums. Since that time dynamic cooperation has boosted the Charette success and Reunion Rums are sold worldwide. The "Rhum Charrette" was born in 1972 and is the most famous brand of rum form the Island La Réunion, 49% ABV and it's made form molasses and bottled in the 90's.
