Grants Robert Burns Bicentenary
Lot number: 091-3336
Winning bid: £50
Launched by William Grant - founder of the Glenfiddich distillery - in 1898, Grant's is Scotland's oldest continuously family-run, blended whisky maker. William's rise from cattle herder to whisky baron is one of the great tales in Scotch. In 1903, William employed his son-in-law Charles Gordon and six years later he embarked on a world tour spreading the word about Grant's (or, as it was then called, Grant's Standfast after the clan motto: 'Standfast Craigellachie') and making the brand into the worldwide success it is today. Bottled to commemorate Scotland's favourite bard Robert Burns.
