Only active from 1975 to 1993 and utilised mainly by Arthur Bell & Sons at a time when the blender's fortunes were high, Pittyvaich is rarely seen as a single malt. It was bottled as part of Diageo's Flora & Fauna range and occasionally in their Special Release series. The industrial-looking distillery in Speyside was demolished in 2002.
Part of Diageo's Special releases in 2009, this limited edition Speysider has been matured in refill American oak casks.
Bizarrely this whisky has already survived longer than the distillery that produced it! The distillery produced for just eighteen years so single malt releases are very rare. Previous Pittyvaich bottlings were few and sherried in style, so this is the first opportunity to experience Pittyvaich’s true distillery character in a mature single malt bottling.
