Welcome to our 95th Auction! It’s the end of February already and you can forget about Valentine’s as we have the true love of your life… a tasty dram!

Roses are red, violets are blue, life is sweet cos this Macallan is 52! Yep that’s right: we have a very special offering for you of a Macallan 52 Year Old 2018 Release. Produced in 1965 - the year the distillery installed six new stills and thus distillation capacity doubled - then matured for over half a century, each bottle of the limited release of just 250 is signed by Macallan Whisky Maker, Sarah Burgess. Burgess herself has said that this release “will be desired the world over by whisky lovers and luxury connoisseurs”... that sounds like you guys!

Speaking of old gems, we have a very rare bottle of Hazelwood Reserve released in 1991 to celebrate the 90th birthday of the matriarch of the Grant family, Janet Sheed Roberts. Going on to live another two decades, ‘Wee Janie’ lead a life full of amazing achievements including being the only female student in her University of Edinburgh Law class. This Cognac-shaped bottle is particularly rare as it was only distributed amongst family and select staff members of William Grant & Sons.

Rittenhouse Rye Whiskey commemorates Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square which became a highly desirable place to live during the 18th and 19th century. Eventually the Rittenhouse Club was formed in 1875 as a private institution to welcome the mingling of businessmen, intellectuals and artists. Made in the same spirit of exclusivity, this 23 Year Old is a rare bottling from the Heaven Hill distillery and is reportedly the smallest production run of the extra aged series with only 147 bottles released.

Another one to catch your eye is the Bowmore 8 Year Old Sherriff’s which we rarely see in a full-sized bottle. A legendary Bowmore released before the distillery was bought by Stanley P. Morrison, this is a beauty not to be missed.

And finally an exciting couple of 35 Year Old 1980s releases from the lost distillery of Karuizawa. The 1981 Eight Headed Dragon takes inspiration for its name and artwork from Yamata no orochi, one of the stories from Hasegawa Takejiro; an 18th century publisher specialising in Japanese tales written in European languages. The 1980 Moon Above Daimotsu Bay is also a limited bottling with a stunning label and box depicting Tsukioka Honen’s woodblock story from the “One Hundred Aspects of the Moon” series.

So that’s your very varied lot for this month… get bidding and don’t lose your bottle!
