Originating in 1703 and named after former owner and inheritor of the distillery Sir John Gay Alleyne, 1st baronet of Four Hill, Mount Gay is said to be the oldest existing rum brand in the world and was acquired by Remy Cointreau in 1989. Mount Gay distillery is based on the beautiful and friendly island of Mount Gay; the perfect environment for rum-production.
This rum was created from three very old vintages from 1969, 1974 & 1976. It was released and bottled in 2003 for the 300th anniversary of the distillery.
