Lot number: 096-08474

Winning bid: £700

This heavily peated whisky from Bruichladdich is generally peated to 40ppm and is distilled in the same tall stills resulting in a spirit that has both power and elegance. Created to commemorate the Lochindaal distillery, originally called Port Charlotte, which closed in 1929, it was the first spirit distilled by the Murray McDavid team in 2001.

PC5

This was the very first PC release, the first step on the “walk of life”, as Jim McEwan put it, for this bold young Ileach.

The beginning of a new dynasty. Heavily peated and unmistakably Islay, this cask strength bottling of 6000 or so bottles was a milestone in the distillery's progress.

Distilled: 2001

Bottled: 2006

63.5% ABV / 70cl

Bottle Number: 3292 / 6038

PC6

PC6 is called "cuairt beatha" which is Gaelic for the walk of life. It recognises the work of the distillery staff which brings us this fine whisky.

Distilled: 2001

Bottled: 2007

Age: 6 years old

61.6% ABV / 75cl

Bottle Number: 16164 / 18,000

PC7

'Sin An Doigh Ileach' translates 'It's the Islay way, and may it never change'

PC7 is a heavily peated release from the Bruichladdich distillery from the limited release Port Charlotte range. This is the third release.

61% ABV / 75cl

Bottle Number: 19740 / 24000

PC8

Land of our Heritage is the fourth release of the Port Charlotte distillation.

60.5% ABV / 75cl

Bottle Number: 28,079 / 30,000

PC9

Bruichladdich said: "We considered not releasing a PC9, as there is so little of this precious spirit left, but then we felt an obligation to the many thousands of PC fans who have supported and followed its progress through PC5, PC6, PC7 and PC8 - how could we not allow a lucky few to take this next important step on the journey with us?"

How, indeed?

59.2% ABV / 75cl

Bottle Number: 5953 / 6000

PC10

This PC edition celebrates the next generation at Bruichladdich. Allan Logan is the youngest distillery manager in Scotland and has been learning his trade as Jim McEwan's right hand for 10 years.

He and the other young craftsmen coming through are the future of this distillery – we recognise them now. “tro na linntean”: through the generations.

59.8% ABV / 70cl

Bottle Number: 318 / 6000

PC11

From Bruichladdich's own website: PC11, ‘Eòrna Na h-Alba’ - Scottish Barley - is our homage to the land and people that gave life to this whisky. This edition is only available at the distillery or in selected travel retail stores. Oh and of course here on Scotch Whisky Auctions!

Bottled: 2013

59.5% ABV / 70cl

Bottle Number: One of only 12,000 bottles released

PC12

This release, called Oileanach Furachail, refers to the young student observing how the master goes about his work.

The student in this case is Adam Hannett who has been working alongside Jim McEwan since 2006 and is now Head Distiller.

Bottled: 2014

58.7% ABV / 70cl
