Welcome all whisky aficionados, connoisseurs and collectors alike. Tis’ our 107th auction and it’s a whopper. February brings us moonshine liquid goodies from the US of A, some beautiful looking bottles from the far east and even some new releases from Teletubbyland...sorry! We meant the new Macallan distillery.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of prohibition. On January 16, 1920, the 18th Amendment went into effect, outlawing the sale of alcoholic beverages in the United States and as a result, became an age of rebellion, rumrunners and bootleggers.

We are lucky enough to have a unique variety of prohibition bourbons in this auction. These were all distilled pre and during the 13 year prohibition period and were for medical purposes of course! Get your hands on some Docherty’s Private Stalk, Black Gold, Sunny Brook and an abundance of Old Taylor. No need for black market booze and bathtub gin!

Next up, we have a very rare bottling of Springbank 1966 29 Year Old bottled by Milroy’s of Soho. This would have been one of the first bottlings from the London Whisky retailer, established just two years prior. A rare chance to get yer hands on a legendary vintage from the Campbelltown distillery.

Another first for us and comes with a whopping age is the Macallan 72 Year Old Lalique Genesis. One of only 600 and distilled in the 1940s, the whisky comes in a Lalique crystal decanter, held in a case designed by Burgess Studio and handcrafted by cabinet maker NEJ Stevenson. This was released, following on from the Genesis, in 2018 to celebrate the opening of the new Macallan distillery.

This month also brings us two other mature bottles from The Macallan. Firstly, a Macallan 1948 51 Year Old Select Reserve and a Macallan 50 Year Old Lalique-Six Pillars Collection! Aye, that’s a feast for the big time collectors out there.

Lastly and by no means least, we also boast a Bowmore 1965 52 Year Old. This is the third release in Bowmore’s 50-Year-Old Vault Series and what a colour it is! This gem has been aging for over half a century in one single Oloroso Sherry cask and was some of the first spirit to pass through Bowmore’s then new steam-heated stills.

Okay folks, plentiful more delicious liquor out there. Stock up this month on your illicit hooch as you never know when the next prohibition is round the corner..
