Dewar's 1893 Legacy Collection
Lot number: 118-06570
Winning bid: £950
John Dewar began blending whisky at his shop on Perth High Street in the mid 19th century, and upon his death in 1880 the business passed to his two sons, John and Tommy. The extroverted Tommy subsequently embarked on a two year odyssey around the globe, spreading word of the brand far and wide. His legendary exploits (which included throwing empty bottles of Dewar's containing reward notes overboard during his voyage) helped grow the brand from its humble beginnings to the giant it is today.
This spectacular decanter was released to celebrate the 120th anniversary of its first Royal Warrant, and is a blend of 20 rare and long-aged whiskies.
The decanter itself is crafted with Scottish silverwork, and is engraved with a thistle motif and embedded with 22-carat gold and nine sapphires. It is then presented in a walnut and gold metal box.40% ABV / 70cl
