Lot number: 128-01174

Winning bid: £480

Edinburgh based company J & W Hardie were founded in 1857 by James Hardie, and began as Tea blender and wine merchant. The next logical step for the company was whisky blending, and The Antiquary brand was born in 1888, taking it's name from the Walter Scott novel.

Still going strong, the malt heavy blend received an impressive 92 points in Jim Murray's 2013 Whisky Bible.

The bottle and labelling suggest this bottle, with no age, no ABV and with nothing but the paper on its belly, leads us to believe this is a bottle from the 1930's. And the contents should be a mystery worth discovering.
