The heady days of summer are truly upon us and what better way to celebrate than with a bottle of something fantastic from our fully stocked 134th auction. We have over 7000 bottles to choose from this month, including some incredibly special drams to whet your appetite. As always, we have endeavoured to pick out a few of the highlights to showcase the quality in this month’s auction.

First up is a very special and incredibly long-aged Ben Nevis 1926 63 Year Old 75cl. Described by Ben Nevis distillery themselves as their “peak of achievement”, the whisky itself is only 36% and was bottled in 1989 one year before the law changed so it could still be classified as single malt scotch whisky. The angels had greedily devoured most of the precious liquid by then and only 96 bottles were able to be drawn from this rarest of casks. A real collector’s item this one and sure to be highly coveted.

Continuing our theme of long-aged whisky here is another with some serious years under its belt, the Macallan 52 Year Old 2018 Release 75cl. Described by Macallan as “an outstanding example of how perfect harmony can be created through the mastery of wood and spirit”, each bottle is hand-signed by Whisky Maker Sarah Burgess. Not seen in our auctions for a few years this expression is rare and the very definition of extraordinary.

If your Down in the Doldrums this month, not to worry as we have two of the finest drams to Shiver Your Timbers...

The Talisker 44 Year Old Forests of the Deep For Parley and the equally untamed Talisker 43 Year Old Xpedition Oak are two maritime malts that really push the boat out. With wild tales of adventure and mystery these sea dwellers are sure to make waves in the single malt seas.

Our next highlight is another very limited release of only 100 bottles, a Highland Park 21 Year Old Single Cask ‘Best Sprit in the World’ Celebration Bottling. As the name suggests this one-off expression was bottled in 2005 to celebrate Highland Park 18 Year Old being awarded the Best Spirit in the World accolade by F. Paul Pacult and was distributed to a select few Highland Park staffers. This particular bottle was originally gifted to ex-Highland Park Whisky Maker Max McFarlane himself, as evidenced by the personalised and hand-signed letter accompanying it. A unique bottling with an interesting story this lot is bound to generate much interest from the Highland Park afficionados amongst us.

This is another rare one, the SMWS 27.40 Springbank 1964 31 Year Old, was distilled before the moon landing and bottled at a still hefty 52% ABV thirty one years later. There are some particularly special SMWS Springbanks in this month, but this beauty is the pick of the bunch. A rich and dark looking liquid this tremendous single cask was bottled by the esteemed Scotch Malt Whisky Society and will be the maiden showing at auction for us. Given the ongoing popularity of Springbank at auction this one should prove to be highly sought after this month.

I think we can all agree that there are some very exciting whiskies available this month, and a real opportunity to purchase some tremendous collector’s items which are sure to appreciate. And for those of us working on a budget there are also some fantastic bargains to be had as always, so without further ado it’s time to get scrolling, building that watchlist and bidding on your favourite tipples.

Don’t lose your bottle.
