In 1843 Glenmorangie was granted its first licence to distil malt whisky on a traditional site outside Tain.

Towards the end of the 19th century, Tain also had a small lemonade factory. The distillery workers would often "moonlight" or take summer jobs there - earning the distillery manager of the time the title 'The Soda King of Scotland'.

To commemorate Glenmorangie's 150th anniversary it selected a 21 year old Glenmorangie. Buchans, the same company who produced the original stoneware flagons for Tain's Lemonade factory, was commissioned to hand throw an authentic replica of the 19th century bottles.

Or as Glenmorangie would have it: The sesquicentennial selection is a malt whisky of unique character and subtlety, fragrant, elegant and delicately scented: The result of 150 years of experience and commitment to the distillation art.
