A nice rarity - Glen Kella Manx Whiskey. In the beginning the company called its products "whiskey", but after a ruling in the High Court in 1997 it had to stop.

Manxman Andrew Duixon founded the company and took a collection of various Scottish blends and re-distilled them to remove all colourings and added Isle of Man water.

He marketed the blend as ‘purer’, ‘cleaner’ and easily mixable in cocktails.

Production went off without a hitch but the legality of the product’s name become his downfall. Because it is re-distilled (legally resetting the clock) but not aged in barrels after the fact, created from scotch but not created in Scotland, it was argued it couldn't be called whiskey. The court agreed.

750ml and bottled at 40%, this won the highest award in its class inn the 13th Inertanional Wine & Spirit Competition 1982, England.
