This is a very early bottling, possibly the first of the 12 year olds ever. There were two major revamps at the distillery in the 1960s, information is sparse at that time so it seems reasonable to assume that this whisky was casked then.
The bottle fill of 26 2/3fl. Ozs. indicates a
1960s/70s release (the measure was changed to 75cl. In the 1970s) the prefix
“Royal” was dropped for a while around this time, and the ref. to 70 degrees
proof alcohol fits the pattern. Level is
in the neck and the box has seen better days but it is original
