Hi folks and welcome to the 39th auction - our biggest yet, and crammed with easy buying, easy drinking drams, as well as top-notch collectible whiskies from the very top of the top drawer.
Stars? Ardbeg Double Barrel is a limited edition ‘matching pair’ of exceptionally rare Ardbeg 1974 single cask whiskies, presented in a beautiful bespoke leather gun case. Only 250 were ever produced. This is number three. Macallan 1938, bottled in the 1980s and featuring the hand-written label, must be a contender, along with two 1951 Fine & Rare siblings. Staying with Easter Elchies, we have Macallan Speymalt from 1945, the Sir Peter Blake Collection, Annie Leibovitz, Elliot Erwitt, Rankin.
From Japan, we welcome a rarer than rare Karuizawa Geisha, one of only 68, from Campbeltown we have a Springbank 21, bottle number 1 of 1 for charity along with matching mini and from Brora we have a round dozen of expressions all between 30 and 35 years old.
Elsewhere, there is a Mortlach 50, a 43 year old Linkwood from 1939 and a Glenlivet from 1940. Continuing the Forties theme, we have Springbank, GlenDronach, Glenfarclas, Linkwood and an SMWS Glen Moray offering from that vintage.
Anything else we'd care to mention? How about 41 Port Ellens, one of the fabled Maltings release, three of the new Ardbeg Kildaltons, a 50 year old North British and three complete collections from this year's Feis Isle?
And don't forget our own, inestimable Big Peatrie is on YouTube giving his unique take on the bottles for collecting and for drinking. He is also announcing the winners of our two fabulous competitions. Follow this link to see his thoughts here
As usual, our advice is to plunge in and have a good look around. Get bidding, keep bidding - and don't lose your bottle!
Kind Regards from Glasgow - the SWA Team
