In 1956 the beverage producer Hans A. Sönnichsen from Jamaica bought 4 of the best Pure Rum varieties. At the time, the rum had been stored for 5 years on oak barrels and should now be processed to a mild blend. Growing up in Flensburg and with the smell of burnt cane in the nose, the ambition of Eckhard Soennichsen developed a particularly mild rum.
