Lot number: 114-02699

Winning bid: £3,800

We are happy to offer the opportunity to bid on a Single Hogshead of BenRiach single malt whisky, that is currently held in bond at Whisky Broker.

After being founded by John Duff & Co in 1897, the distillery was mothballed for 65 years with only its floor maltings being used for the Longmorn distillery next door. After experiencing great success under the ownership of Billy Walker and his partners, it won Distillery of the Year from Malt Advocate magazine in 2007 and has received rave reviews for its peated and un-peated expressions alike. The distillery was purchased by Brown-Forman in 2016 - the same year they bought GlenDronach and Glenglassaugh - and in 2017 Rachel Barrie took over as master blender.

Distilled: 04.07.2014

Cask Type: Hogshead

Cask Number: 25

Re-gauged on 24th September 2020:

New Bulk: 234.32 Litres / 65.5% ABV / 153.61 Litres of alcohol

Once the auction has concluded, the winner of this lot will have to complete all relevant transfer of ownership paperwork, and will be responsible for all costs relating to storage, removal from storage, bottling and duty/tax. Photographic ID and proof of address will be required.

The cask is currently held in bond by Whisky Broker. The current storage fee is £14.60 per year, insurance is at a cost of £0.0035 a year per £1 of the value of the cask.

There will also be a £20 administration fee payable to Whisky Broker to transfer ownership, for which the buyer will be liable.

Please note if the new owner is a UK revenue trader (business), they will need to be registered with HMRC and hold a WOWGR certificate.

Revenue traders from outside the UK will require a Duty Representative in the UK (the Duty Rep would be registered with HMRC and there is usually an annual charge for their services).
