Banff 1975 33 Year Old Jim McEwan’s Celtic Heartlands
Lot number: 175-01637
Winning bid: £750
With a history of explosions, fires and bombings - a Junkers Ju-88 destroyed warehouse 12 in August 1941 spilling rivers of whisky in nearby fields where, rumour has it, the cows got a little tipsy - Banff distillery has one of the more unfortunate back stories of any distillery. Founded in 1824, the distillery was closed as part of the 1983 cull and was destroyed by yet another fire in 1991. Banff is most notably seen as part of Diageo’s discontinued Rare Malts range.
