In 1956 Karuizawa was founded, unbelievably the distillery was actually a vineyard! The aim was to create premium whisky, which according to the fans of the distillery were doing. But sadly some things come to an end, and Karuizawa's fate was sealed when production was stopped in 2000.
The Number One Drinks company are the ones who are known for Karuizawa bottlings these days but this bottle harks from the original ownership - Mercian Wine Company. There aren't too many original bottlings from this era available, making these Mercian bottlings a must have for Karuizawa collectors.
