Founded in 1895, Gordon & MacPhail have been bottling single malt whiskies for 120 years and by the 1950s they held the largest range of bottled malt whiskies in the world. This family run business has bottled the oldest single malt whisky in the world as well as being distillers themselves after buying Benromach in 1993.

The Glenlochy distillery in Fort William, at the foot of Ben Nevis, was founded following the whisky boom of the 19th century.

It went through a number of owners until in 1992,when the buildings were put up for sale and subsequently were acquired by West Coast Inns. The new owners built a restaurant and hotel on the site. To this day some of the original features remain; most noticeable is the rather imposing pagoda roof.
