Lot number: 066-2084

Winning bid: £2,200

The oldest distillery on Islay, Bowmore has been described as the Grande Dame of the island. It still has it's own floor maltings which make up about 30% of their requirements. Their No. 1 vaults are the oldest maturation warehouse in Scotland and the only one below sea level.

A very special Bowmore from a hogshead filled on August 9th 1980, the day that Queen Elizabeth II visited the distillery.

Cask #5774 was acquired by Jim Howat, then Chairman of Morrison Bowmore and was left in his will to the JTH Charitable Trust he created with his wife Christine.
