Chateau Pichon Longueville, on the left bank of the River Gironde, was classified as a Second Grand Cru Classe in Napoleon III's Bordeaux Classification of 1855.

Also from the left bank in the Pauillac region, Chateau Duhart-Milon is produced by the famous Rothschild family.
