As members of the Explorers Club, Justin Fornal and Chad Anderson joined by brand ambassador for Beam Suntory, Johnnie Mundell were sponsored by Single Cask Nation and WhiskyGeek Tours to become the first to swim the 100 miles around the coast of Islay. To commemorate their fantastic accomplishment, a flotilla of kayaks carried a small cask to fill with whisky from each of the island's eight active distilleries.
The contents of the quarter cask were left to marry for 13 months was then decanted into 145 bottles with the proceeds raising $10,000 for the Islay RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institute).
The special whisky is presented in a box with photos of the adventure and a small bottle of water from the Corryvreckan whirlpool.
The founders of Single Cask Nation have decided to auction this bottle and donate the money to the Finlaggan Trust on Islay. The trust are guardians of the ruins on Eilean Mor and Eilean na Comhairle, once home to the Lord of the Isles and his council. The money raised will help to continue their works in preserving this ancient and important site for future generations.
