We are kicking things off a little early as we are all going to be enjoying some well-earned rest on Friday in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, which is just as well as with over 9000 amazing bottles this month you’re going to need the extra day just to scroll through it all.

This month here at Scotch Whisky Auctions we will be donating more than 50 bottles, with 100% of the hammer price and commission being donated to the DEC in support of their ongoing relief efforts in Ukraine. By clicking the 'Charity' tag you can navigate to all the Ukraine charity bottles once the auction goes live, with highlights including a Macallan Classic Cut 2017 Release and a Lagavulin 22 Year Old Jazz Festival 2020. By donating these bottles, we are trying to make a genuine and positive contribution using the best means available to us, with the only intention being to raise the largest amount of money that we can for a worthy cause.

As well as our charity bottles we also have a rare whisky which was actually distilled before Queen Elizabeth II had even sat on the throne, the peerless Glenlivet 80 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Generations. The oldest whisky ever bottled until the Macallan Reach was announced earlier this year, this expression is a frankly astonishing release from Gordon & MacPhail and will be sure to take pride of place in one lucky collection at auction end. It even comes with a 3cl sample if you simply must try it but don’t want to open the actual bottle.

It's hard to top such a fantastic opening bottle, so we won’t even try. Instead, we’ll take a sharp left turn and highlight a tremendous Jamaican rum. The Appleton Estate 1962 50 Year Old Jamaica Independence Reserve, as the name suggests, was bottled to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jamaica’s independence and is one of the oldest rums ever bottled. Joy Spence and the team at Appleton have really outdone themselves with this release, a well-aged rum of unmatched quality.

All things Campbeltown are creating a buzz in the secondary whisky market these days so this SMWS 27.39 Springbank 1964 is sure to make some waves. Founded by Pip Hills way back in 1983 the Scotch Malt Whisky Society has been bottling fantastic single cask drams for almost 4 decades now, and this 60’s Springbank judging by its rich dark colour looks to have been aged in sherry for most of its life. Bottled in 1996 this whisky is as rare as they come so don’t expect to see it come up for auction again any time soon.

From one renowned indie bottler to another this Ardbeg 1966 32 Year Old from Cadenhead’s is one of only 150 bottles drawn from an individual cask. We’ve all heard about the supposed difference in quality between ‘old’ Ardbeg and more recent bottlings and given this was distilled way back in 1966 this is your chance to find out for yourself just how different it really is.

With over 9000 bottles this month there is sure to be something to suit every palate, so get building that watchlist now. And with over 50 bottles being sold for our Ukraine charity campaign we sincerely hope that these bottles will achieve the highest prices possible, and in some small way we can all help to ameliorate the suffering of the Ukrainian people. Happy bidding and don’t lose your bottle…
