Winning bid: £30

West Cork Distillers was formed in 2003 by childhood friends John O’Connell, Ger McCarthy and Denis McCarthy. It made no sense to open a distillery at that time due to the economy crisis, but the three friends were hungry for a change in career. To start with distilling took place in a small room at the back of Denis’s house, it wasn’t until 2014 when the business expanded that the operation moved. In 2020 they opened a new distillery making them one of the largest owned distilleries in the country.

West Cork’s “Glengarriff” series is characterised by their use of heavily charred virgin oak casks.

This special “Bog Oak Charred Cask” comes from the old moorlands.

43% ABV / 70cl
