West Cork Distillers was formed in 2003 by childhood friends John O’Connell, Ger McCarthy and Denis McCarthy. It made no sense to open a distillery at that time due to the economy crisis, but the three friends were hungry for a change in career. To start with distilling took place in a small room at the back of Denis’s house, it wasn’t until 2014 when the business expanded that the operation moved. In 2020 they opened a new distillery making them one of the largest owned distilleries in the country.
West Cork’s new series called Glengarriff are characterised by the peat burnt barrels. This special peat smoke flavour is released in the nose and body of the whisky.
This series will show the start of two new bottlings.
Cask Type: Peat Charred cask
43% ABV / 70cl
