Plantation rum is a French-owned rum producer bottling rums from all over the Caribbean. In 1989, Alexandre Gabriel discovered Maison Ferrand and latterly was drawn to the craft of Cognac production. The 1990s saw Gabriel’s interest in spirits expand into Caribbean rums and Plantation was created as a range of artisanal rums from the great terroirs of the region. Some of these rums are transported to France for cask-finishing, including final maturation in Cognac casks.
Plantation is also the owner of the Barbadian West Indies Rum Distillery and is a shareholder in National Rum of Jamaica, who themselves own the Clarendon and Long Pond distilleries.
