The story of the Whisky Connoisseur begins back in 1946 when Arthur Bell was born. He went on to become a whisky entrepreneur and also heavily involved with politics addition to being a heritage conservationist. Throughout his time at Edinburgh University, Arthur published a pub guide with his classmate and subsequently following graduation he along with his wife Susan decided to start their own company named Scottish Direct. The Whisky Connoisseur was a trading arm of this company and since its inception these bottlers have generated interest worldwide due to their high quality whisky selection and intriguing themes from sporting events to war history or the British Royal Family.
