Lot number: 170-04554

Winning bid: £190

Originally given the uninspiring name of Glen Grant #2, Caperdonich was closed for longer than it was ever open. Built in 1898 across the road from its namesake, the distillery was eventually renamed Caperdonich when it was re-opened in 1965. In 2010, the distillery was sold to Forsyth’s, manufacturer of copper pot stills and subsequently demolished in 2011 to make way for the ever increasing demand in the Forsyth’s distillery equipment.

One pair of stills was sold to the Belgian Owl distillery in Belgium, and the other pair was repurposed for the new Falkirk distillery. Additionally, some washbacks and other small parts found their way to the Wolfburn distillery in Thurso, and the mill was rumored to be in Annandale Distillery.
