The 172nd Auction

A very warm welcome everyone to our now live 172nd auction!  We have a particularly interesting auction this month with a genuine plethora of fine drams on offer, from top-shelf beauties to everyday drinkers.  Here are a few highlights we’ve picked out to get you started on your journey this month.

The ConstellationX is a collaborative masterpiece between Jacob & Co. and Alec Monopoly. It has been meticulously crafted, inside and out, from the 30 year old blended whisky matured in both first and second fill bourbon barrels to the stunning decanter and packaging created by renowned graffiti artist Alec Monopoly. 

Blameless is a family orientated organisation whose purpose is to raise awareness of the dangers of alcohol and drug use. Their aim is to advance the education of young people and families, highlighting the dangers and hardship of alcoholism or addiction.

100% of the hammer price will go to the Blameless charity.

What a great bottle we have here, this understated beauty is the Glenfarclas 50 Year Old.  A real testament to the depth available in the stocks of this Speyside behemoth, this incredibly well-aged dram was part of an 836 bottle run released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Chairman John Grant.  Bottled at 50% this release has received some rave reviews since it hit the market in 2022.

Based in a town called Bad Wörishofen to the West of Munich, Alambic Classique is best known as an importer and fine spirits bottler; although they did not significantly start to bottle their own whiskies until fairly recently in 2005. But boy are we glad they did, this is the Tomintoul 1968 50 Year Old Alambic Classique.  Distilled in 1968 and aged for five whole decades in a single Oloroso sherry cask, this deliciously oily looking Tomintoul has been getting some covetous glances here at SWA.

And to top things off how about one final Quinquagenarian from one of Scotland’s historic distilleries, this is the Ben Nevis 1966 55 Year Old Signatory Rare Reserve.  This unbelievable dram, bottled by distinguished indie Signatory as part of their Rare Reserve series, is an astonishing 55 Years Old and is a marriage of three casks all distilled at Ben Nevis distillery on the 22nd of April 1966.  One of a vanishingly small run of 99 bottles this bottle is a rarity and would be a welcome addition to any collection.
