Lot number: 172-01723
Winning bid: £45
The Clydeside Distillery - one of the newest members of Morrison ownership - is one of several to drive the resurrection of malt whisky production in Glasgow. Opening in late 2017 in the restored old Queens Dock pumphouse situated between the very modern Riverside Museum and SEC complex, the still room has beautiful views along the Clyde to emphasise the importance of the river in the history of whisky. The distillery is primarily owned by Tim Morrison of Morrison Glasgow Distillers, who is the great-grandson of John Morrison, who built the Queens’ Dock and Pump House on the River Clyde in the 19th century where the distillery is now located.
Napier:
This bottling honours Robert Napier who was a Scottish marine engineer. Known for his contributions to the Clyde shipbuilding industry and the founding of the British and North American Royal Mail Steam Packet Company, the site of his original shipyard sits just opposite of The Clydeside Distillery.
Cask Type: Oloroso Sherry
46% ABV / 70cl
